Research Group Leader — Ultra-Precision Laser & Ion Beam Surface Processing (Physicist)

The Leibniz Institute for Surface Modification (IOM), a publicly funded research institute and member of the Leibniz Association (96 institutes across Germany), is hiring a research group leader to head a team of 4-6 researchers working on ultra-precision laser and ion-beam surface processing. Responsibilities include developing internationally visible research topics, securing third-party research funding, publishing in top international journals, and leading an interdisciplinary team.

PhD in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field. Research expertise in ultra-precision laser and/or ion-beam surface processing. Strong publication record and international research visibility. Experience leading research teams preferred. Very good English required; German language skills helpful but not mandatory.
